One of the greater benefits of sensor faucets is that they turn off automatically. Beyond that obvious benefit of water conservation, these automatic faucets with preset time-outs are designed to save building owners from over flow water damage. This is a huge plus in environments where people tend to leave the water running unnecessarily such as office buildings, public restrooms, institutions, assisted living environments and other places where an unattended faucet can waste water and cause damage.

In sanitary facilities with touch free taps, one does not have to get dirty again reusing the same lever or handle and there will not be cross-contamination between users through the tap. Despite that, some suppliers have disposable spouts for sensor taps, designed for healthcare environments that aim at ensuring hygiene.

There are some very valid reasons to consider Sensor Faucets:

Hands free and easy to operate
Helps to stop the spread of germs and bacteria
prevents water overflow with automatic turn off
better efficiency as they save on water usage
water temperatures can be preset to help prevent scalding injury

Automatic Sensor Faucets

The sensor on a touchless faucet may seem magical but it is not able to detect actual motion. A sensor on a sensor faucet senses the presence of an object, whether it is the swipe of a hand or a stack of dirty dishes. The sensor tends to be located at the lip or base of the spout of a touchless faucet. This makes it easier to determine the presence of hands or an item under the spout without getting blocked by arms or large items within range of the sensor.

The sensors use a small infrared light that is mounted next to an infrared detector. The infrared light bounces off of your skin as it approaches the faucet and gets within a few inches. The signal turns on the faucet valve. There are also Automatic faucet models that use an ultrasonic field sensor. This turns the faucet valve on when your hands or other items enter the small field around the faucet.

Touchless Automatic Faucets

While some benefits of sensor taps are undeniable, other elements in the list will be more or less negative in relation to one’s needs and expectations.

Automatically wash hands without need to touch the tap. As essential & dependable component in every washroom to maintain proper hygiene.

Simultaneously instrumental to help reduce water wastage. prevent the spreads of germs due to physical contact of tap. Reduces carbon footprint & save considerable amount of operational costs as compared manual Taps. A tried and tested easily serviceable & lifetime reparable.

Less waste: It might not seem like much, but the water runs for an extra period of time as you move your hands from turning the faucet on to the stream of water, or when you reach for the handle to shut it off once you’re done. An automatic sensor faucet only runs when your hands are under it, ensuring you use the precise amount of water necessary. Not only that, most automatic faucets are leak-proof, which conserves water as well.

No playing with adjustments: Most automatic faucets can be set with a pre-fixed flow and water temperature. That means you don’t have to turn one or two handles before everything is perfect, which wastes water and either natural gas or electricity. This also saves time, another valuable resource.

A cleaner bathroom/kitchen: When turning a regular faucet off after using it, you’ll inevitably drip on the counter. Kids might splash all over a bathroom mirror, walls, etc. Not only that, if your hands are dirty when you turn the faucet on, that grime can build up on the faucet itself. Automatic faucets keep everything cleaner. Also, you don’t have to touch a dirty faucet once finished washing your hands, immediately soiling them again.

Ease of operation: Children, people with arthritis or other painful ailments, and really anyone can operate an automatic faucet. It’s just plain easier to deal with for everyone.

Touchless Faucets

Automatic faucets have been on the market for decades. These days, you see them everywhere, from public restrooms in restaurants and airports to new touch on/touch off models in homes. We’ve all struggled at one point to get the motion sensor to recognize our hands while a line of sports fans forms behind us.

The challenge with automatic and touchless faucets is that, until now, design options have been limited. Because the sensor is built into the faucet, contractors and design professionals are limited to a small range of trims and finishes. Many are clunky, industrial or generic, which limits their application in high-end settings looking for that distinctive touch.
